iPhone 4S Will Be Much More Powerful Than iPhone 4 With A5 Processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP Camera, Improved Optics

Don’t miss this report from TheNextWeb: Apple is going to announce the iPhone 4S after 2 hours from now and it will be a great device to buy. Reliable sources told TNW that the iPhone 4S “is much more powerful than an iPhone 4″ and “feels like the high-end device”.

According to the report, the iPhone 4S will be announced today sporting an 8 megapixel camera, A5 processor, 1 GB of RAM, improved optics, and a “more accurate differential GPS stage. The camera will be manufactured by Sony as reported before.

Sources familiar with Apple’s plans have revealed to us that Apple will indeed debut the new iPhone 4S today, featuring an 8-megapixel camera with “improved optics” and a “more accurate differential GPS stage” thanks to Apple’s new Qualcomm chipset. [...] all but confirming that the device will feature Apple’s new A5 processor and include 1GB RAM, as tipped in previous reports, noting that the device will retain the same dimensions and design as the iPhone 4.

The site’s reliable source reported that the iPhone 5 rumors were all just a hoax and it will be released next year not this year.

We’re still confused since a case manufacturer has made 500,000 cases for a mystery device which looks similar to the iPhone 5 rumored specs. May be this case is made for a new iPod touch or… mini-iPad as AppAdvice thinks.

Apple Announces New iPod Touch Available In “White” Rolling Out On October 12th

Another major Apple announcement in today`s “Let`s talk iPhone” event is the new iPod Touch. As you know iPods are basically iPhones without the phone functionality like making calls and sending SMS.

Things get interesting when you try to use the handset… its central ball will levitate when you open your hand and all functions will be controlled in mid-air, with the aid of holographic technology. Android to overtake iPhone app downloads for first time

An analyst house is predicting that 2011 will see Android overtake iOS devices in app downloads for the first time.

Ovum has estimated that downloads from Android devices will hit 8.1 billion by the end of 2011, while iOS apps will languish at 6 billion downloads.

But it's not all devastating defeat for Apple – its iOS app downloads will have grown by almost three times compared to 2010 when it shifted only 2.7 billion downloads.

But the explosion of growth is all the greater for Android, which saw only 1.4 billion downloads in 2010.

The total app downloads is predicted to come in at 18 billion by New Years' Eve – that's a massive leap from 2010's total app downloads which came in at a relatively paltry 7.4 billion.

It's middling news for Microsoft's Windows Phone platform; Ovum predicts that the Windows Phone OS will overtake BlackBerry to take third place in both the number of app downloads and app revenues - but only by 2015.

Ovum's predictions tally with those of another analyst, Strategy Analytics, which predicts that the Android Market is set to surpass the Apple App Storeby 2012.

Apple girding gadgets against hackers

Apple on Friday said it was working to patch a vulnerability that hackers could use to break into the company's popular iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch gadgets.Engineers at the California firm are fixing a weakness pointed out by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

"Apple takes security very seriously," Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said in response to an AFP inquiry.

"We are aware of this reported issue and developing a fix that will be available in an upcoming software update," she said.BSI warned this week of a flaw that would let hackers infiltrateApple mobile devices by duping users into opening PDF document files booby-trapped with malicious computer code. Although no attacks have been observed, hackers are likely to try to exploit the weakness, according to a posting on the agency's website.

Possible "attack scenarios for cyber-criminals" include accessing passwords, email messages, contact lists, or built-in cameras andeavesdropping on phone conversations or getting location information, according to BSI.The agency recommended that Apple device users guard against hackers by not opening PDF documents from unfamiliar sources.

Apple gadget users should limit Web browsing to reliable websites and avoid clicking on links in emails unless they are certain where they lead, BSI advised.

iOS 5 To Be Revealed Next Week by Apple

Apple's iPhone 4 made its way to our country recently. It is already available on Aircel and Airtel with a rather hefty price (though the networks promise 100% money back over a period of two years via monthly credits). Well, the rather alarming issue with the launch was that India was a bit too late in getting the phone considering the fact that we are all anticipating the launch of its successor.

Apple has now confirmed its launch, partially at least, by saying that the company will be revealing the latest iteration ofiOS, i.e. iOS 5 at the WWDC 2011 (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference) next week. This is supposed to bring a couple of new features, which the company will briefly demonstrate. This will be done in the presence of, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs who will start off with a keynote presentation accompanied by other Apple executives and officials.


This event will also be host to a few other demonstrations, including the launch of the much expected Mac OS 10.7 Lionand Apple's very own cloud-based music service called iCloud. So this event will be host to not just one demonstration or launch, but three significant launches. And as Apple always does with their keynote addresses, this one too is supposed to raise the bar significantly.

And as surprising as it may sound, there is no word yet on the launch of the new iPhone (4S or 5) yet. This further hints at a September or October launch of the new iPhone as rumoured before. However, the big question remains that whether the new iPhone will be able to stand against the new crop of fast Android handsets powered by dual-core processors. There is also the question of when it will be launched in our country. And when it does, how heftily would it be priced? Only time will tell.
